SINP’A - CONSTANZA JAVIERA RUIZ C

SINP’A is a performance honoring encounter and disencounter. Inspired by the tinku, this piece reflects how the experience of approaching this dance and ritual transformed our bodies and identities as contemporary dancers raised in South America. Through SINP’A, we value the strength and care involved in the act of braiding each other, the presence of the Apus and more-than-human bodies as part of our identity, and the encounters and tensions within the culture of and around tinku (Cochabamba and Macha, Bolivia).

This work is a choreography of memories and transformations; a gift to our identity and community, and an acknowledgment of one of many forms of ancestral resistance. It is also a way of reclaiming the physical expression of rage and confrontation as a way of encounter.

SINP’A is a work with direct, physical and frontal contact, braided with the sensorial-, somatic- and spiritual dimension.
